About Michael Fowler
Nineteen-year-old Michael Fowler is a promising young Canadian cellist who lives in Montréal.
Michael has won recognition regionally and nationally in several prestigious competition: the concerto competition of the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal (2025), Gold (2023) and Silver (2022) Medals in the CANIMEX Canadian Music Competition, and Silver in the Festival concours de musique classique de Pierre-De Saurel (2022).
An avid orchestral musician, Michael returns to Orchestre Fidelio in 2024 as principal cellist, and he is also principal cellist at the Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes de Montréal.
Michael has also donated his talents towards charitable causes, most notably a solo concert in 2023 to raise funds to support the arts in Ukraine, and he recently joined renowned cellist Stéphane Tétreault to perform a duo at a fundraiser for the École de musique Vincent d'Indy.
He has been fortunate to study with several exceptional cello teachers: Elinor Frey, Julie Trudeau, and - most recently - with Yegor Dyachkov at the Faculty of Music of the University of Montréal.
